Rivers signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys on Wednesday, the National Football Post reports.

Analysis: The Bengals selected Rivers with the ninth pick of the 2008 NFL Draft, and he responded with 70-tackle campaigns in his second and third season. However, prior to the fourth, he underwent wrist surgery and missed all of 2011. He was subsequently traded to the Giants prior to the 2012 campaign and signed with the Bills last offseason. After tallying 16 tackles in 12 games in 2014, he'll merely provide linebacker depth for the Cowboys.

The Saints have released Thomas, NFL.com reports.

Analysis: With Thomas cut loose thanks to the team's salary cap situation and Mark Ingram on track to hit free agency, the Saints figure to have a new-look backfield in 2015. The 30-year-old Thomas was limited to 11 games (and 45 carries for 222 yards and two TDs) last year, but when healthy, he remains an asset as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. After recording 77 catches for New Orleans in 2013, Thomas caught 45 passes for 378 yards and a TD this past season.

Coach Bruce Arians said Wednesday that Palmer is "about a month ahead of schedule" in his recovery from a torn ACL in his left knee, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Palmer suffered the injury on Nov. 9, bringing his second season with the Cardinals to a close. He underwent surgery within a week and a half, and positive reports regarding his recovery effort started to emerge once the calendar flipped to 2015. Although he's expected to achieve full health by the time OTAs roll around, Arians relayed that he's apt to keep Palmer on the sideline during the Cardinals' offseason program. Thus, Palmer likely won't participate in any team drills until training camp commences.
